Sterile Processing Technician Job in Philadelphia, PA

You will work as a Sterile Processing Technician at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. This is a travel position lasting 91 days, beginning October 19, 2026. You will be scheduled Thursday through Monday, working five 8-hour day shifts per week, earning $1,386 weekly.

In this role, you are responsible for sorting, cleaning, packaging, and sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment used throughout the hospital. You will maintain instruments, pans, trays, and related items for sterilization, ensuring they meet all quality and safety standards. Your work directly supports the operating room and other surgical services across two campuses located approximately 3 minutes apart; floating between these locations is required.

Your key responsibilities include:

• Operating and maintaining steam sterilizers, ultrasonic cleaners, and washers
• Performing manual cleaning and aseptic technique procedures
• Wrapping and labeling items for sterilization using proper protocols
• Reprocessing scopes and probes according to established standards
• Assembling and organizing sets and trays for surgical procedures
• Using biological and chemical indicators to verify sterilization
• Following oral and written instructions and maintaining accurate records
• Handling specialty instrumentation including orthopedic, laparoscopic, endoscopy, and robotic surgical equipment

You must hold current certification as either a Certified Registered Central Service Tech (CRCST) issued by IAHCSMM or a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Tech (CSPDT) issued by CBSPD. Your certification must be active and not expiring. You will need a minimum of 2 years of hands-on sterile processing experience and knowledge of operating room instrumentation. A high school diploma or GED is required, along with successful completion of an approved central processing course.

You must demonstrate physical stamina to stand for extended periods, the ability to follow detailed instructions, and strong attention to detail for labeling and record-keeping. Experience with steam sterilization, ultrasonic sterilization systems, and chemical decontamination agents is essential. Rotating weekend availability is required.
