PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Weekend rotation required
• Patient ratio of 3:1 in the PCU department
• 6-bed unit serving adult and geriatric patient populations
• May float within scope to meet facility needs
• Minimum 2 years of experience in stepdown, PCU, ICU, or telemetry required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Valid California RN license required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (AHA or ARC only)
• Required skills include: accessing/managing ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care/management, CVA care, feeding tube care and management, heparin protocols, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs), interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions/PPE, cardiac drip management, nasal cannula and oxygen administration, neuro stepdown, PCA, PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown care, peripheral and PICC line management, pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure management, starting and maintaining IVs, telemetry monitoring, tracheostomy care/management, and wound care/wound vac
• Common patient diagnoses include sepsis, CVA, CHF, diabetes, AFib, pneumonia, influenza, and small bowel obstruction
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
