PCU Registered Nurse Job in Wausau, WI

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for its 36-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU). You'll work the night shift—12 hours from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM—on a 13-week contract with a guaranteed 36 hours per week. This is a full-time nights position with every other weekend and every other holiday scheduling.

Role Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a medical-surgical intermediate care unit with heavy telemetry monitoring
• Manage a patient ratio of 4:1
• Care for patients including those with stable weaning ventilators and trachs, sepsis, trauma, alcohol detox, GI bleed, colostomy/ileostomy, chest tubes, traumatic brain injury, orthopedic trauma, spinal cord injury, and stroke
• Float to higher-acuity inpatient units as needed
• May be placed on call during low census periods with a minimum 2-hour callback requirement

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree or certificate in nursing (bachelor's degree preferred)
• Current Wisconsin RN License
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• 2+ years of experience with stepdown, intermediate, or PCU nursing
• Ventilator and trach experience required
• At least one prior travel nursing assignment
• Must reside outside the 50-mile radius of the facility

Preferred Qualifications

• ICU experience and Level II trauma experience
• EPIC charting experience
