About this role

You will work as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) at Sutter Health Alta Bates Summit Medical Center Ashby in Berkeley, California. This is a 91-day travel assignment with a schedule of 4 ten-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, with variable start times and weekend coverage as needed. On-call shifts are required.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as scrub person, your primary focus, during surgical and endoscopic procedures across multiple specialties
  • Select, prepare, and manage supplies and equipment for surgical procedures
  • Assist the surgeon with retraction, sponging, suction, electrocautery, suture cutting, staple application, and wound dressing
  • Handle and label medications on the sterile field under direct supervision of the registered nurse circulator and surgeon
  • Manage specimen care and communicate accurate information to the circulator
  • Assist anesthesia personnel as needed
  • Perform postoperative duties including patient transfer, operating room sanitation, and operation of ultrasonic washers, autoclaves, and steris units
  • Participate as a member of the perioperative team under registered nurse supervision
  • Maintain physician preference lists and manage specialty instruments, supplies, and equipment
  • Serve as technical subject matter expert for at least one surgical service
  • Preceptor to personnel rotating through specialty services

Required Qualifications:

  • Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential
  • Minimum 2 years of recent acute care hospital experience in a surgical technologist role
  • Travel experience required
  • Proficiency in Ophthalmology, including cataract and vitrectomy procedures
  • Experience in Orthopedics, Neurology, Robotics, and Ophthalmology
  • Current BLS and NBSTSA certifications
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment
  • Excellent communication skills

Compensation and Duration:

Weekly pay is $2,316.96. The assignment begins July 13, 2026.
