Job Details:

• Responsible for the safe operation of fluoroscopic and radiographic equipment in the Cardiac Cath Lab
• Perform in multiple roles for adult and geriatric cardiac catheterization procedures including computer operator, scrub assistant, second circulator, and recovery technician
• Assist circulating RN with assessment and implementation of care for cardiovascular lab patients
• Recognize drugs and lab values that may contraindicate cath procedures and relay information to appropriate personnel
• Document appropriate information in the medical record including patient demographics and procedural information
• Continuously monitor hemodynamic data, relay information to appropriate personnel, and accurately analyze hemodynamic waveforms
• Assist scrub personnel with acquisition of needed equipment, set up equipment, and provide first line assist to physician during procedures while maintaining sterile technique
• Properly dispose of biohazardous materials and contaminated equipment
• Accurately calculate valve areas and shunts
• Assist the physician and RN in the management of emergency situations by coordinating emergency transfers per policy
• Assist with access and administration of medications on and off the sterile field
• Ensure all medications and solutions are labeled on and off the sterile field
• Demonstrate proficiency in performance of Cath Lab procedures during a code per policy
• Monitor and assess radiation safety in accordance with code of practice guidelines
• Adhere to radiation protection guidelines as they apply to cardiovascular lab personnel and patients
• Recognize initial alterations in patient body systems including vital signs and overt physical signs and communicate findings to appropriate members of the healthcare team
