Opportunity:
Sleep Tech - Polysomnographer
Job Details:
• Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with no weekends or holidays
• Utilize polysomnography (PSG) and other sleep monitoring equipment to record and analyze physiological data including EEG, EMG, ECG, and respiratory parameters
• Review and interpret sleep study data to identify sleep stages, sleep architecture, respiratory events such as apneas and hypopneas, movement disorders, and other sleep-related phenomena
• Apply AASM scoring criteria and guidelines to classify sleep stages, respiratory events, and other physiological parameters accurately
• Maintain accurate records of sleep study data using electronic health record (EHR) systems or specialized sleep study software
• Generate comprehensive sleep study reports summarizing findings, interpretation of results, and clinical management recommendations
• Collaborate with clinicians, sleep physicians, and other healthcare providers to communicate analysis results and facilitate patient care decisions
• Ensure adherence to established protocols, standards, and regulatory requirements set by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) and other accrediting bodies
• Participate in quality assurance activities including inter-scorer reliability checks, peer review sessions, and proficiency testing
• Identify and troubleshoot technical issues or equipment malfunctions related to sleep study data acquisition and analysis
• Assist in the setup and preparation of patients for sleep studies, ensuring comfort, safety, and compliance with testing procedures
• Educate patients about the purpose of sleep studies, equipment used, and what to expect during the procedure
• Monitor patients during sleep studies for signs of discomfort, anxiety, or adverse reactions and respond appropriately
• Stay current with advancements in sleep medicine through continuing education, professional development, and participation in relevant conferences or workshops
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physicians, respiratory therapists, and sleep medicine specialists
