Respiratory Therapist - Respiratory Therapist
Job Details:
• Administer safe and competent respiratory care as ordered by physicians with emphasis in specialty areas including Emergency, Neonatal, Pediatric, Geriatric, and Critical Care
• Monitor mechanical ventilation and administer respiratory medications
• Perform patient assessments and document all respiratory care procedures accurately and completely
• Verify physician orders for respiratory care and maintain up-to-date patient information reflecting current clinical status
• Perform effective airway management including bag/mask ventilation and assist physicians with intubation
• Demonstrate safe and appropriate suction techniques and use of artificial airways
• Initiate, maintain, and monitor ventilator patients and interpret flow volumes and pressure volume curves
• Perform arterial blood gas draws
• Translate medication into neonatal and pediatric doses using proper equipment and procedures
• Assess adult, geriatric, pediatric, and neonatal patients for special needs and ventilator requirements
• Perform patient charge reconciliation and data entry of all daily services and charges
• Assist in orientation and training of new employees, respiratory and nursing students
• Maintain working knowledge of all cardiopulmonary equipment and perform troubleshooting as needed
• Attend and participate in department in-services, meetings, patient care rounds, and mandatory meetings
• Must adhere to dress code in accordance with organizational policies and procedures
• Required certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
• Must hold an unencumbered Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
• Must be a graduate of a CoARC-approved Respiratory Care Program
• Minimum 1 year of experience as an RRT with knowledge in General Respiratory Care and Mechanical Ventilation required
• Experience in pulmonary diagnostics and cardiac diagnostics (EKG, Holter monitor, Event Monitor, Cardiac Stress Testing) preferred
