Histology Technician

Laboratory - Histology Tech

Job Details:

• Work day shifts Monday through Friday, 5x8-hour shifts from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM with holiday rotation
• Occasional weekend requirement with on-call coverage on weekends once every two months
• No floating required - position works on one campus only
• Guaranteed hours: facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
• Perform routine and complex histologic procedures including processing, embedding, microtomy, routine and special stains, and immunohistochemistry
• Embedding proficiency required at 40 blocks per hour and microtomy proficiency required at 30 blocks per hour
• Perform quality control on completed slides and identify problems that may affect diagnosis and results
• Document maintenance of instruments and equipment used in the lab
• IHC proficiency required; Beaker experience preferred
• 3-5 years of full-time experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP) certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC)
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in histotechnology, biology, or other related scientific discipline, QIHC, and 3-5 years of experience with IHC and Special Stains
• Scrub color: Wine
• Charting system: Epic
