Opportunity:

RN - Cardiac Tele

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Weekend schedule: Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays
• 36 hours per week only
• Contracts available for 13 to 26 weeks
• No block scheduling
• On-call required; frequency depends on patient census
• Float requirement applies
• Self-scheduling with oversight from leadership to balance unit needs
• Target patient ratios of 1:5-6; must be comfortable taking up to 6 patients during surge
• Minimum 2 years of experience required; must have similar experience with ratios and acuity
• First-time travelers accepted
• Local candidates accepted
• Epic (Dimensions) charting system experience preferred
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Required skills include IV starts, telemetry, cardiac drips, pre and post procedure cardiac patient care, and PCI
• Additional skills required: blood product administration, central line care and management, CVA management, high flow nasal cannula, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, peripheral line care and management, pre and post cardiac cath, and non-invasive airway management
• Primary cardiac and stroke unit managing stable pre and post care for pacemaker implantation, implanted cardioverter/defibrillators, cardiac catheterization, and TR bands
• Patient diagnoses include unstable angina, low risk chest pain, CHF, dysrhythmias, new CVA, and TIA
• Must be able to run and titrate multiple cardiac drips including Cardizem, Dopamine, and Amiodarone
• Special equipment includes telemetry, pulse ox, high flow O2 (stable patients), non-rebreather mask (palliative only), and BiPAP (chronic use only)
• Unit systems include Pyxis, Dimensions (Epic), and SBAR communication
• Fast-paced unit with typical weekly turnover of 78 to 90 patients
• Team lead available to assist with admissions and discharges
• Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and more
• Scrubs: Navy blue or white scrubs; Novant t-shirts allowed all days; jackets must match uniform color and material (no fleece); no Crocs with holes
• 36-hour orientation; must be available every day during week one for hospital orientation
• Adults only patient population
