Job Details:

• Day shift position working 3x12-hour shifts from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
• Call requirement of 3 twelve-hour shifts per month, with one being a 24-hour weekend shift
• Functions under the direction of a registered professional nurse
• Performs duties within moderate to high acuity surgical cases
• Prepares operative suite and surgical field to ensure a safe patient care environment
• Maintains sterile field and monitors other patient safety concerns throughout procedures
• Reviews and utilizes appropriate preference cards to check supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures
• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions
• Performs surgical counts with circulator and actively participates in procedure pause/time-out
• Scrubs, gowns, and gloves; gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants
• Passes instruments to surgeon during procedures and maintains organized back table and operative field
• Anticipates surgeon needs and offers suggestions throughout procedures
• Prepares sterile dressings and participates in post-procedure pause including proper handling of specimens
• Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization
• Assists with room turnover, stocking, cleaning equipment, and preparing for future cases
• Assists in transporting patients and provides age-appropriate comfort and safety measures
• Maintains 20 hours of continuing education related to the field per evaluation period
• Ability to mentor, precept, or train students and new employees
• Required certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS or BLS-I), CST or TS-C(NCCT) or CSFA or CSA
• National certification required
• High School Diploma or GED required; accredited Surgical Technology program preferred
• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures required
• Ability to multi-task and function effectively in stressful and emergency situations
• Basic computer skills required including Microsoft Word and Excel
