Med Surg RN Job in Hilo, HI

Join Hilo Medical Center as a Registered Nurse on the Medical-Surgical unit for a 13-week contract beginning July 20, 2026. You will work night shift with flexible scheduling, including various shift lengths and days off. This role requires adaptability and a commitment to meeting patient care needs across multiple shifts.

Position Details:

• Schedule: Night shift, flex scheduling with 36 hours per week following your first full week of orientation
• No guarantee of hours or specific shift preferences
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6 on days and evenings, 1:8 on nights
• Potential to float to Laulima Unit and Cardiovascular Unit

Requirements:

• Current Hawaii nursing license required by start date
• RN degree
• 2–10 years of nursing experience
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Proof of flu vaccination or approved medical or religious exception prior to contract start

What You'll Use:

• Meditech EMR, Pyxis medication dispensing, wound vacs, and chest tubes
• Standard medical-surgical nursing equipment and protocols

Pre-Assignment Requirements:

• Arrive Thursday before your July 20 start date for a Friday employee health appointment
• Professional nursing attire required
• Unit-specific orientation program provided

You will provide direct patient care in a busy medical-surgical setting, managing multiple patients and collaborating with an experienced healthcare team. This position offers exposure to diverse clinical situations and the opportunity to strengthen your Med-Surg nursing skills in an acute-care hospital environment.

Compensation: $2,102.40 per week.
