About this role

University of Virginia Medical Center is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a 13-week travel assignment in the NICU. You'll work 3x12 night shifts with a flexible self-scheduling model, earning $2,306.88 weekly. The assignment begins May 11, 2026.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide respiratory care to neonates, infants, pediatric patients, and adolescents across NICU, PICU, high-risk delivery, and acute care pediatrics units
  • Operate specialized equipment including Bunnell Jet Ventilator and HFOV 3100A
  • Float within your scope of practice as needed throughout the facility
  • Document care using Epic charting system
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams using strong communication and critical thinking skills

Requirements:

  • Current RRT certification
  • Level 4 NICU experience (required)
  • BLS, NRP, and ACCS certifications (ACCS preferred)
  • Valid Virginia respiratory therapy license in hand at submission or temporary license before start date
  • Minimum 1+ years of respiratory therapy experience
  • Competency with Bunnell Jet Ventilator and HFOV 3100A equipment
  • Epic charting experience
  • Flu vaccine required with no exemptions
  • References required for submission

Schedule Details:

  • Availability for 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Every other weekend and every other holiday coverage required
  • No time off allowed for 5/25 and 7/4
  • Self-scheduling with manager explanation during call-in

Cardiac PICU experience is preferred. You must be willing to work across multiple patient populations within the pediatric and neonatal setting. This position offers the opportunity to develop expertise in complex respiratory care for the youngest patients.
