PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care

RN - PICU

Job Details:

• Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Patient ratio of 2:1 for days, nights, and weekends
• Self-scheduling model
• 3 weekend shifts per schedule required
• Must be able to float to NICU, Pediatrics, and Pediatric ED as needed
• Care for patient age groups including infants, pediatrics, and adolescents
• 6-bed PICU unit
• 40 orientation hours provided
• Charting experience required; Cerner charting system used
• Valid Maryland or Compact nursing license required
• Required certifications: BLS, PALS, Basic EKG
• Patient diagnoses include respiratory distress/failure, DKA, seizures, pain management, and sepsis
• Special procedures include moderate sedation, drips, arterial lines, and central lines
• Special equipment includes ventilators, high flow nasal cannula, and BiPAP/CPAP
• Required skills include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions/PPE, central line/implanted line care, PICC line management, anti-seizure medications, continuous sedation, IV vasopressors, pediatric dosage calculations, ICP monitoring, chest tube management, BiPAP/CPAP management, care of ventilated patients, acute airway care, and ABG interpretation
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, social services, and more
