PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend or 2 weekend shifts per schedule required
• Holiday rotation participation required
• 3 shifts per week with possibility of 3 consecutive shifts (not guaranteed - flexibility required)
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3 for Stepdown and 1:5-6 for EMU floor
• Care for higher acuity neuroscience patients including strokes, seizures, craniotomies, and epilepsy monitoring
• Experience with EVDs preferred; TPA patients managed by permanent staff only
• Strong neurology experience required including history of caring for stroke patients and implementing NIH assessments
• Titration performed by physician orders only; may include drips such as Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Nipride, Ketamine, Lasix, Bumex, and Insulin
• Telemetry monitoring on unit; RNs not required to read strips
• RT available 24/7 to manage floor vents; RNs not required to have vent experience
• Charge Nurse available 24/7 with nurse aides on unit at ratio of 1:8-9 (4 per shift)
• Possible floating to units 7E, 7W, 7NE, or 10W
• Royal blue scrubs required
• 2-shift unit orientation provided
• Charting system: EPIC experience required
• Required certifications: BLS and NIHSS (NIHSS must be in hand at time of submission); ACLS preferred
• BSN not required
• Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week contract
