Operating Room RN Job in Waterloo, IA

UnityPoint – Allen Hospital in Waterloo, IA is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Operating Room on a temporary assignment. You will work a 4x10 flex schedule with a start date of November 30, 2026, for a 91-day assignment.

Role and Responsibilities

As an OR RN, you will function as a circulating nurse in a fast-paced surgical environment. You will support multiple surgical specialties and demonstrate proficiency across orthopaedic, neuro, cardiovascular, general surgery, and gynecologic procedures. Scrub experience is a plus. You will also operate DaVinci robotics systems and handle podiatry, urology, and plastics cases. You will use EPIC for charting and documentation.

Requirements

• Minimum 24 months of operating room experience in a hospital or medical center setting
• Current circulating RN experience required
• Proficiency in orthopaedics and general surgery/gynecology required
• Proficiency in neuro and cardiovascular preferred
• Experience operating DaVinci robotics required
• Experience in podiatry, urology, and plastics required
• Minimum 3 months of current travel experience within the past 18 months; first-time travelers will not be considered
• On-call requirement: 1 shift per week and every 4th to 5th weekend
• Active Iowa nursing license or compact/multistate license
• BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA) certifications required
• OR Nurse skills checklist completion required
• Valid driver's license required
• Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months preferred
• Availability to work 1–2 winter holidays unless the unit is closed
