About this role
You will work as a Registered Nurse in a 21-bed multidisciplinary ICU at Barnes-Jewish Hospital Nursing in Saint Louis, Missouri. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning July 20, 2026, with a weekly pay of $2,111.96.
Shift and Schedule
- 3x12 nights (36 hours per week)
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call required
- Guaranteed 3 shifts per 13-week contract
Role and Responsibilities
You will float within the ICU service line as needed, caring for adults and geriatrics with patient ratios of 1:2 on nights and weekends. You will manage patients with respiratory failure, ARDS, acute chest pain, cardiac arrhythmias, stroke, cardiac arrest, DKA, multi-organ failure, and sepsis. The unit handles pre- and post-operative cardiac, thoracic, and abdominal surgeries, as well as medicine and neuro-medicine overflow, pre- and post-transplant cases, and end-of-life care. You will not take fresh cardiac cases as a travel RN but may be scheduled in the CTICU for coverage.
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
- Travel experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
- Strong cardiac knowledge required
- Medical and Surgical ICU competency, dysrhythmia interpretation, multisystem organ dysfunction management
- 12-lead EKG/ECG, CVP monitoring, Pulmonary Artery/Swan Ganz monitoring, arterial line and central/PICC line management
- Ventilator and BiPAP management, ABG interpretation, respiratory failure management
- Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, emergency medication administration, blood product administration
- CVA/acute stroke management, infection prevention, phlebotomy, surgical wound care with drains and wound vac
Equipment and Systems
You will use IV pumps, titration equipment, CRRT/dialysis, ventilators, hemodynamic and invasive monitoring, defibrillators, and crash carts. Epic experience is required for charting.
Required Certifications
- ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
Additional Requirements
- Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
- Pre-approved time off limited to 7 days maximum; no RTO allowed during the first week
- Navy scrubs required
- Charge RN assignments as needed
