Operating Room RN Job in Lake Charles, LA

CHRISTUS Ochsner Lake Area Hospital is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN for a 91-day travel assignment beginning June 1, 2026. You'll work a Monday through Friday day shift from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM (may extend to 3:30 PM), with on-call responsibilities 1–2 times per week and potential weekend coverage.

What You'll Do

• Serve as circulator in a 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio model
• Support diverse surgical cases: ENT (pediatric, geriatric, bariatric), urology, gynecology, general surgery, and select orthopedic procedures (shoulder, knee, hip)
• Float to St. Patrick's OR (5 minutes away) as operational needs require
• Assess patients, plan and deliver care, monitor outcomes, and document comprehensively
• Administer medications and treatments while tracking side effects and therapeutic response
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers on care needs and recovery

Requirements

• RN license in Louisiana or valid compact license
• Demonstrated circulator experience and readiness to contribute on day one
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (AHA)
• Minimum 1 year related nursing specialty experience preferred
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred

You'll earn $2,482 weekly on a 5×8 schedule. This is a hands-on role in a busy surgical environment where your circulator expertise directly impacts patient safety and surgical flow.
