RN - ER

Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts with variable scheduling, including every other weekend requirement
• Patient ratio of 1:4 on days, nights, and weekends
• No on-call requirements
• Guaranteed hours up to 40 per week
• 2 years of emergency room nursing experience required
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Block scheduling available, open to discussion during interview
• Maximum of one week of pre-approved time off; must make up hours at end of contract
• Holiday schedule applies - clinician may work up to 3 out of 4 major holidays
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC, AVADE
• Cerner charting system experience preferred
• Must be culturally sensitive to the Alaska Native population
• Experience working with complex social histories including behavioral health and domestic violence populations required
• Scrub color: Navy
• Must be proficient in a broad range of emergency nursing skills including: triage, arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, care of ventilated patients, central line care, chest tube management, IV vasopressors, procedural sedation, interpretation of dysrhythmias and ABGs, 12-lead EKG/ECG, phlebotomy, and management of multisystem organ dysfunction
• Must be comfortable caring for all patient age groups including neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Special equipment includes ultrasound IV placement, Kurin blood culture collection devices, and overhead lifts in select rooms
• Interdisciplinary support available including respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation
