Job Details:

• Minimum 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers accepted
• Patient population includes adults to geriatrics
• Patient ratio is 1:1-2 with an average daily census of 7 in a 10-bed CV ICU
• Every other weekend required with 6 weekend shifts per contract
• No on-call requirements
• Float within facility and scope of practice as needed
• Maximum 7 days of requested time off per contract; all RTO must be finalized at time of submission
• If one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work all of them; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work two of them
• Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS
• Charting systems used: Epic, Pyxis, SBAR
• Care for patients with LVADs, balloon pumps, swan catheters, temporary pacemakers, femoral and venous sheaths, arterial lines, TR bands, and patients on CRRT
• Titrate cardiac drips, vasoactive medications, and sedation for intubated patients
• Monitor and care for post-AAA repair patients requiring extended flat positioning
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds with intensivist and care team at 10:00 AM Monday through Friday
• Intensivist present in the unit Monday through Friday
• Nurses typically carry 2 patients with a free charge nurse available
• Effective communication between nurses, physicians, and care team is essential
• Special equipment includes LVADs, balloon pumps, swan catheters, temporary pacemakers, CRRT machines, and venous/femoral sheaths
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
