PACU Registered Nurse Job in Wausau, WI

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for its 14-bay Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). You will provide direct patient care in a fast-paced surgical recovery environment, stabilizing patients as they emerge from anesthesia and preparing them for ICU transfer or floor placement.

Schedule & Commitment

• 4x10 day shifts with start times of 7:30 AM, 8:00 AM, or 9:00 AM
• 40 hours per week
• Weekend on-call every fifth weekend with holiday rotation
• One night of on-call per week (4 weeks out of every 6-week schedule) with 11:00 AM start time and 30-minute response requirement
• 2-hour minimum call-back
• 91-day contract starting September 8, 2026
• May be placed on low census or on-call status during contract

Clinical Role

• 1:2 patient ratio in a 14-bed PACU unit averaging 35 patients per day
• Primary surgical cases: general, spine and neuro, GI, ENT, cardiac, peripheral vascular, and orthopedic procedures
• Stabilize ICU-level patients prior to transfer

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of PACU experience
• Recent acute care hospital experience required
• Post-cardiac and pediatric experience needed
• Current Wisconsin RN License
• AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
• Epic electronic health record experience strongly preferred; previous EHR experience required if no Epic background
• Associate Degree or Certificate in Nursing minimum; Bachelor's Degree preferred

Compensation

Weekly pay: $2,470.80
