RN - Med Surg Adult

Job Details:

• Must have previous travel experience
• Handle up to 8 patients at any one time with a mix of total patient care
• Most recent 3 assignments must be acute care medical surgical in medium to large organizations
• Floating to other medical surgical units is required
• Must be willing to float between medical surgical and orthopedic units
• Nurse to patient ratio: Nights 1:6, may go as high as 1:8
• Work with 32-bed unit capacity
• Common procedures include robotic hysterectomy, robotic prostatectomy, colon resection, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, bariatric surgery, and wound management
• Administer common medications including IV antibiotics, pain control medications, nausea medications, heparin, and Lovenox
• Operate equipment including Alaris IV pumps, CADD PCA, Bard mini-infusers, Pyxis, ceiling or EVA lifts, and wound manager vacuum
• Required skills: IV insertion, PICC/central line management, and vascular device access/care
• Participate in care team rounds to assist with discharge planning
• Conduct bedside shift reports
• No long-term care nurses accepted
• Facility can downstaff travelers 36/48 hours in a 13-week contract based on weekly schedule
