CVICU RN Job in Asheville, NC

You'll provide direct patient care in a 19-bed mixed CVICU/CVRU unit at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting April 13, 2026, working three 12-hour day shifts per week (6:45 AM–7:15 PM) on an every-other-weekend schedule.

Your Role

You'll manage 1:2 or 1:1 patient ratios depending on acuity, with possible 1:3 ratios for downgraded hold-over patients. The dayshift team includes 13 RNs and 11 nightshift RNs, plus nurse's aide support on all shifts. You may be asked to float to all ICUs, stepdown units, and other hospital units as needed.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Hemodynamic monitoring and IABP care
• Impella and LVAD management
• Chest tube and pacer wire removal
• Patient ambulation and mobilization
• Assist with intubation and extubation procedures
• Perform safety checks requiring second nurse guidance for unfamiliar procedures

Technology & Environment

You'll work with GE monitors and Cerner EMR systems. Arrive no earlier than 7 minutes before your 6:45 AM shift start. All overtime requires CNCs approval.

Requirements

• Current RN license
• BLS, ACLS, and critical care training certifications
• Minimum 2 years CVICU or CVRU experience
• Preferred: critical care, cardiac surgery, or recovery room certifications

Dress Code & Expectations

Navy blue or white scrubs, nursing shoes, hair off shoulder, no artificial nails. Follow all safety protocols and unit standards.

Compensation

Weekly pay is $2,102.40.
