PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

RN - PCU Stepdown

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts with shift times of 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM or 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM (night rotation)
• 6-week scheduling managed by unit schedulers
• 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule period (night weekends are Fridays and Saturdays)
• Holiday rotation shared with permanent staff
• Patient ratio of 1:4 with nurse aide/patient care tech support at 1:14 ratio
• 28-bed Progressive Care Unit serving adult patients including mixed medical/surgical, cardiac, and stroke patients
• RNs required to titrate drips including heparin, octreotide, insulin, and maintenance IV medications
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry monitoring
• Specialty equipment includes Code Carts, LUCAS Machines, Hoyer lift, and Sit and Stand devices
• Charge nurse present on each shift and takes an assignment
• Floating may be required to Med/Surg and all areas of the hospital including ICU/ED based on abilities
• Charting system: EPIC
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• Orientation includes first week of classroom training followed by two 12-hour shifts of unit-specific orientation
• Pass/fail open book exam required during orientation with a minimum passing score of 90%
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• BSN not required
• Valid driver's license required at time of submittal
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity affiliated facility
