PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts, 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, three shifts per week
• May be every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
• Must work at least one holiday per 13-week contract
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2-week period
• Patient ratio of 1:5; daily census of 27
• Serves adult and geriatric patient population
• Hospitalist PCU with primary Pulmonary/GI focus; no ventilator beds on this unit
• May work without CNA support
• Floating required within skillset to other PCU or medical-surgical units
• Epic charting system experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year of experience required; previous charge experience preferred
• Experience in PCU, DOU, IMC, or stepdown settings required
• Skills required: cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, emergency response, IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care
• Common IV medications include Cardizem (no titration), Amiodarone, Heparin (protocol), and Insulin (protocol)
• Respiratory support skills required: nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Experience with rapid response and code teams and isolation precautions required
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Active Virginia state or compact RN license required
