PCU RN Job in Spruce Pine, NC

Blue Ridge Regional Hospital is seeking a travel RN for a 91-day assignment on our 25-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU). You'll work a day shift schedule of three 12-hour shifts per week, beginning June 5, 2026, at a weekly rate of $1,839.60.

Unit Overview

Our PCU is an acute care inpatient unit that accommodates up to 27 patients, including emergency department holds. Day shift staffing includes a charge nurse, 4–5 RNs, and 2–3 PCTs/HUC staff. Night shift includes a charge nurse, 4–5 RNs, 2–3 PCTs, and a house supervisor present every night. You'll rotate weekends with scheduling flexibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on the PCU and float to the emergency department as needed
• Perform wound care and standard PCU procedures
• Monitor patients on telemetry and continuous oxygen monitoring
• Operate equipment including BiPAP, Vapotherm, patient lifts, Baxter pumps, and telemetry systems
• Document care in the Cerner electronic medical records system
• Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members

Requirements

• Current RN license
• Telemetry experience (required)
• ICU experience (preferred)
• Current BLS, ALS, and NIHSS certifications
• Strong team orientation and communication skills
• Navy blue scrubs required as per dress code
