Opportunity:

StaRN - Cardiac PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Job Details:

• Work in a 40-bed cardiovascular progressive care unit (CVPC)
• Primary patient population includes cardiovascular surgery and vascular surgery patients
• Care for patients with open heart surgery (CABG, AVR, MVR, Bentall, TAVR), thoracic lung surgery (lobectomy, thoracotomy), esophagogastrectomy, AAA (open and endovascular), fem-pop bypass, and carotid endarterectomies
• Also care for overflow medical cardiology patients with heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, and heart block
• Maintain 1:5 patient ratio
• Perform typical procedures including epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, IV glucommander, and cardiac drip management (phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine)
• Work with equipment including Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, and various lifts
• Use Cerner EMR system
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS
• Must have stepdown and telemetry experience
• Preferred experience with cardiovascular surgery and vascular surgery populations within the last year
• No call responsibilities
• Minimum 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday day/night) required per 6-week schedule period
• Must be flexible to work holidays
• May float to any stepdown unit (1:5 ratios), medical surgical units (1:6-7 ratios), or ER inpatient holding area (1:6)
• Dress code: All navy, white tops/navy bottoms, or all white scrubs
• Must be a team player who enjoys fast-paced environment and demonstrates flexibility
