RN - Infusion

Job Details:

• Monday through Friday schedule with weekend requirement every six weeks for approximately two hours
• 1:1 staffing ratio with an average of 7 patient visits per day
• Work in a 14-room infusion center with an average daily census of 40
• Treat adult and geriatric oncology and non-oncology patients
• Administer chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy infusions including continuous infusions, IV push administration, and body fluid handling post-chemotherapy
• Manage and monitor ports, PICC lines, central lines, and implanted lines including blood draws
• Administer blood and blood products, coagulation factors, antifungals, antivirals, and intravenous hydration
• Administer medications including antibiotics, antiemetics, antitumor agents, corticosteroids, hormonal therapy, and Neupogen
• Provide care for patients with a wide range of cancer diagnoses including bladder, brain, breast, colorectal, kidney, leukemia, liver, lung, lymphoma, melanoma, multiple myeloma, ovarian, pancreatic, and prostate cancers
• Perform bone marrow transplant-related care including administration of bone marrow, CAR-T, management of graft-versus-host disease, and stem cell therapies
• Manage oncologic emergencies including acute tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, extravasation injury, and sepsis
• Provide pain management including IV push narcotic agents and transdermal patches
• Perform professional skills including phlebotomy, foley catheter insertion and management, tracheostomy care, wound care, colostomy/ileostomy management, and telephone triage
• Support psychosocial care including advanced directives and patient and family education
• Manage symptom care including nausea and vomiting, neuropathy, edema, altered mental status, dysphagia, and constipation and diarrhea
• Provide post-surgical care as needed
• Use Pyxis medication system and Epic charting system — Epic experience required
• Operate special equipment including CADD infusion pumps
• Follow neutropenic precautions, isolation precautions, and PPE requirements
• Maintain management and disposal of cytotoxic spills
• Required certifications: BLS, Chemo (ONS/ONCC)
• Preferred certifications: ACLS, OCN
• Minimum 2 years of experience required; unit does not accept first-time travelers
• Travel experience required
