PCU Registered Nurse Job in Roanoke, VA

You'll work as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, providing direct care to adult patients with neurological conditions, including neurosurgical recovery and stroke management. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting July 6, 2026.

Schedule & Compensation

• 3x12 hour night shifts (6:45 PM to 7:15 AM)
• Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block
• One holiday per 13-week contract
• $2,142 weekly pay

Clinical Responsibilities

• Patient ratio of 1:4–5 (you must be comfortable with 1:5)
• Cardiac monitoring, IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
• Central and peripheral line care
• Medication administration including cardiac drips (no titration)
• Respiratory support: nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Rapid Response team participation and isolation precautions
• Floating to units within your clinical skillset

Unit Specifics

The unit includes 5 dedicated beds for continuous 24-hour epilepsy monitoring. You'll care for patients with neuro-specific diagnoses and provide specialized neurological assessment and management.

Requirements

• Active Virginia State or Compact RN license
• Minimum 1 year of experience
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• EPIC charting experience required
• First-time travelers accepted

You'll receive 48 hours of orientation to support your transition to the unit. This role is ideal if you have a strong foundation in acute care nursing and want to deepen your expertise in neurology and progressive care settings.
