Vascular Sonographer Job in Waterloo, IA

UnityPoint - Allen Hospital is seeking a Vascular Sonographer for a 91-day travel assignment beginning July 13, 2026. This position offers a 5x8 rotating day shift at $2,851.20 per week.

Core Responsibilities

• Perform approximately 15 ultrasound scans per day across general, OB/GYN, and vascular patient populations
• Execute vascular studies including upper and lower venous doppler, lower arterial doppler, ABIs, aorta duplex, carotid arterial doppler, and hepatic and renal doppler imaging
• Conduct transabdominal and transvaginal gynecologic imaging
• Perform first, second, and third trimester OB scans (non-high-risk), including dating, measurements, biophysical profiles, and fetal anatomy assessments
• Perform abdominal and small parts sonography
• Assist with image-guided procedures such as fine needle aspirations, paracentesis, and thoracentesis as needed

Schedule & On-Call Requirements

• On-call coverage required Monday through Friday, 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM on a rotating basis
• Weekend on-call coverage as needed, 6:30 PM to 6:00 AM
• Required to work one to two of three summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 24 months of ultrasound/sonography experience; first-time travelers accepted with 2 years of experience
• Documented experience in general/abdomen, non-high-risk OB/GYN, and vascular ultrasound
• EPIC EMR experience
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• ARDMS credential in Abdomen (AB)
• Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

• ARDMS credential in Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)
• ARDMS credential in OB/GYN

You will complete a skills checklist specific to sonography and vascular ultrasound disciplines. This assignment is based at a hospital facility providing comprehensive diagnostic imaging services.
