Job Details:

• Minimum of three years of phlebotomy experience required
• Must work every other weekend and holiday shifts
• Proficient use of Hospital Information System (HIS) and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) required
• Perform patient registration, payment collection, and data entry of demographic and insurance information
• Answer and screen telephone calls in professional manner
• Accurately identify patients using two patient identifiers and perform phlebotomy procedures
• Collect various specimens including blood, throat swabs, MRSA swabs, urine samples, heel sticks, finger sticks, and blood cultures
• Perform arterial punctures for blood specimen collection from adults
• Conduct glucose tolerance and hormone stimulation specimen collection with accurate patient preparation
• Provide patient instruction for personally collected specimens
• Perform specialized collections including breath alcohol testing and various urine drug screens
• Drive laboratory or personal vehicle to client sites, patient homes, or facilities for specimen collection
• Perform limited waived testing including blood glucose monitoring, rapid flu and strep tests, mono testing, and pregnancy testing
• May be required to perform electrocardiogram tracing and pediatric EKGs depending on location
• Maintain inventory and assist with supply management
• Follow aseptic technique and appropriate procedures to ensure specimen integrity
