Med Surg RN Job in Wausau, WI

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for a 13-week Med Surg contract starting July 13, 2026. You will work 3x12 night shifts (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM) with 36 guaranteed hours per week and earn $2,377.08 weekly.

Role Overview

You will provide care in a 40-bed Post Surgical Care Unit serving pre- and post-surgical adults and geriatric patients. The unit is fast-paced, averaging 10–15 admissions daily with 90–95% occupancy during weekdays and an average length of stay of 2–3 days. You will float to all inpatient units as needed, with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5–7 on nights.

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care based on acuity and clinical need
• Multitask and prioritize in a dynamic environment
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
• Chart using Epic EMR
• Operate Rovers for medication scanning and Alaris pumps
• Rotate every other weekend and holiday

Required Qualifications

• Current Wisconsin RN License
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• Minimum 2+ years Med Surg experience with recent hospital background
• Trauma Level II experience
• Prior travel healthcare experience
• Epic EMR experience
• Associate Degree or Certificate in Nursing (Bachelor's Degree preferred)

Additional Information

You must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility. Any color scrubs are permitted. This is a variable shift assignment; you may work day or night shifts depending on unit needs, though your primary schedule is nights.
