About this role

You'll work as a registered nurse in a float pool role across multiple intensive care and intermediate care units at University of Virginia Medical Center. This is a night shift position with 4x12 hour shifts, offering 36 or 48 hours per week. You'll rotate through Medical ICU, Thoracic Cardiovascular ICU, Coronary Care Unit, Surgical Trauma ICU (Level 1), Neuro & Neurosurgery ICU, Critical Care and Intermediate Care Special Pathogens Unit, Thoracic Cardiovascular Intermediate Unit, Surgical Trauma Intermediate Unit, Neuro & Neurosurgery Intermediate Unit, and ED Boarders. Every other weekend and holiday coverage is required.

Patient Care Details

  • Patient ratios: 1.5 during days and weekends, 2 during nights
  • Care for adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
  • Float within scope of practice across assigned units
  • Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed

Required Qualifications

  • 2 years of nursing experience
  • Travel healthcare experience
  • Epic charting experience
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications
  • Ability to care for ventilated patients and interpret dysrhythmias
  • Virginia nursing license required; pending license accepted at submission but must be in-hand by Wednesday before your start date

Preferred Qualifications

  • TNCC and CCRN certifications
  • BSN degree
  • Continuous IV sedation, ICP monitoring, procedural sedation, pulmonary artery line monitoring, and Level 1 Trauma experience

Assignment Details

  • 91-day contract, starting July 6, 2026
  • Weekly pay: $2,833.92
  • Up to 40 hours of RTO (Requested Time Off) guaranteed per 13-week contract
  • No RTO approved during first 2 weeks of assignment
  • Time off not available for July 4th or July 12–19

You'll have access to interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy.
