About this role
You'll work as an RN in the Progressive Care Unit at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting March 23, 2026, with a schedule of three 12-hour day shifts per week (6:45 AM–7:15 PM), earning $2,102.40 weekly.
Role and Patient Care
You'll staff the cardiovascular progressive care unit on E4, caring for 40 cardiac surgery stepdown beds. Your patient population includes post-operative cardiac and vascular surgery patients, with a 1:5 patient-to-RN ratio. You'll manage patients recovering from procedures such as CABG, valve replacements (AVR, MVR, Bentall), TAVR, thoracic lung surgery, esophagogastrectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass, and carotid endarterectomies, along with overflow medical cardiology patients.
Clinical Responsibilities
Your day-to-day work includes:
- Epidural management and chest tube management
- Tube feedings and IV administration
- Cardiac drip management with medications including phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, and ketamine
- Equipment operation: Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, and Cerner EMR
Requirements and Qualifications
You must hold current ACLS and BLS certifications. Stepdown and telemetry experience is required. Prior experience in CV surgery, vascular surgery, or CVICU is preferred.
Flexibility and Scheduling
You may float to other stepdown units (1:5 ratios), medical-surgical units (1:6–7 ratios), or ER inpatient holding (1:6 ratios). A minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule period is required. There are no on-call responsibilities.
Additional Information
Dress code requires all navy, white tops with navy bottoms, or all-white scrubs. You'll work in a fast-paced environment and should be a flexible, collaborative team player.
