ICU Registered Nurse Job in Chesapeake, VA

Chesapeake Regional Medical Center is seeking an RN for a 91-day travel assignment in the Intensive Care Unit. You'll work night shifts on a 3x12 schedule with the option to pick up 4x12 shifts, with overtime billed after 48 hours on extended schedules. This position offers weekday shifts, every other weekend rotation, float duties, and holiday coverage within your contract period.

Clinical Role

You will care for patients with a 1:2–3 ratio, with a focus on neurocritical care. Strong neuro experience is required, including post-neurosurgical management, external ventricular drain (EVD) care, and stroke management. You may be floated to the Step-Down Unit or ED/Med-Surg to support ICU patients being held in those areas.

Required Clinical Skills

• Ventilator management and weaning
• IV drip titration and medication administration
• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition
• Conscious sedation monitoring
• Emergency and crisis management

Patient Populations

You will work with neurosurgical and post-stroke patients, respiratory failure, renal failure, post-surgical and trauma cases, sepsis and MODS, and heart failure with post-cardiac catheterization patients. Patient ages include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.

Experience and Credentials

Three years of critical care experience is preferred; strong candidates with less experience will be considered. Travel experience is a plus. You must hold a current VA state license or compact license in hand at the time of submittal. Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS via the American Heart Association. You must be EPIC proficient—no exceptions. EKG testing is required with a minimum score of 80%; one attempt is allowed with no remediation available.

Assignment Details

Start date is July 20, 2026. Weekly pay is $2,203.20. You must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify.
