About this role

CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, NE is seeking an RN for a 91-day travel assignment in the Intensive Care Unit. You will work three 12-hour shifts per week, with day shifts from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM and night shifts from 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM. Every other weekend is required, defined as Saturday and Sunday. Minimum of two holidays will fall within your contract timeframe.

The 33-bed ICU maintains an average daily census of 16 patients with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2–3 for adults. You will care for patients with diagnoses including trauma, cardiac events, overdose and substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent placement, pacemaker insertion, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress. Your responsibilities include titrating cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation; reading and interpreting telemetry strips on GE monitor equipment under tele tech oversight; and managing respiratory equipment from nasal cannula to ventilator support.

Floating may occur to the PCU or occasionally Med-Surg units with typical patient ratios of 1:4 or 1:5. Nurse aides are available based on census, and a Healthcare Support tech is on-site three days per week (Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM). You will use the EPIC charting system. If placed on call and called back in, you must be able to arrive within 30 minutes.

Requirements and conditions:

  • Current RN license (BSN not required)
  • Active ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
  • Valid driver's license at time of submission
  • Pass an open-book skills exam with a minimum score of 90% during orientation
  • One shift of unit-specific orientation provided
  • Artificial nails prohibited in all patient care departments

You will receive $2,359 weekly. Self-scheduling is available within the core staff schedule; block scheduling is not guaranteed. Your assignment begins October 12, 2026.
