Pediatric Respiratory Therapist Job in San Antonio, TX

ADEX Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a 91-day travel assignment at CHRISTUS Children's Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. This is a full-time position working the night shift, 3 days per week at 12 hours per shift, with a weekly pay rate of $1,814. The assignment begins October 5, 2026.

Role Overview

You will provide pulmonary care for critical, non-critical, and chronically ill pediatric and neonatal patients under physician direction with minimal supervision. Your responsibilities include performing patient assessments, instituting respiratory care plans, and executing various technical and diagnostic respiratory therapy procedures throughout the hospital.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency situations, including Code Blue and Code White
• Perform airway management, including nasotracheal and endotracheal suctioning
• Administer aerosolized drugs and manage ventilator setup and operation
• Manage airway support devices such as BiPAP and CPAP
• Monitor and manage oxygen delivery devices
• Perform chest film analysis, blood gas collection and analysis, and EKG analysis
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation
• Clean and stock equipment and supplies as needed
• May function as Shift Leader or Team Leader

Advanced Practice Skills

Depending on facility needs, you may participate in therapeutic gas management, pulmonary function testing, bronchoscopy assistance, hemodynamic monitoring, waveform analysis, nocturnal SpO2 evaluation, polysomnography, and transport duties.

Requirements

• Allied Health Professional credential
• 1–3 years of experience preferred
• Texas RT or RCP license required
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification by NBRC required
• BLS (AHA only) required
• ACLS (AHA only) required
• PALS (AHA only) required
• NRP required
