PCU Registered Nurse Job in Des Moines, IA

You'll work as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit at UnityPoint—Iowa Methodist Medical Center, taking on a temporary role beginning July 6, 2026, for 91 days. This is a 4x12 day shift position with a weekly pay of $3,041.28.

Your role includes:

• Caring for CABG, ICD, pacemaker, cardiac drip, and vascular surgical patients on a 24-bed telemetry unit
• Managing a 1:4 patient ratio on days
• Titrating cardiac drips including Nitro, Cardene, Heparin, Diltiazem, and Dopamine
• Monitoring patients requiring Level II trauma care

Unit details:

• You'll float between Iowa Methodist Medical Center and Iowa Lutheran campuses as needed
• You'll work every 4th weekend
• You're required to work 1–2 of 3 summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day)
• Navy blue solid scrubs are required

Requirements:

• Current Iowa nursing license
• BLS and ACLS (AHA) certifications
• Minimum 24 months experience in Telemetry, Cardiac Stepdown, or Progressive Care
• Documented experience with ICD, pacemaker, CABG, and vascular surgical patients
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation skills
• Proficiency with EPIC EMR
• Experience with Alaris IV pump and wound vac equipment
• Cardiac drip and titration experience
• Level II trauma experience required; Level I trauma experience highly preferred
• Completion of at least one travel contract within the previous 18 months

You'll receive 16 hours of non-billable orientation. Overtime becomes billable after 40 hours per week in a standard schedule, or after 48 hours in a 48-hour weekly arrangement.
