About this role
Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital is seeking a registered nurse for the Emergency Department on a rotating shift basis. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning August 3, 2026, with a weekly pay of $3,416.40. You must hold a valid, current, and unrestricted RN license in the State of Alaska at the time of submission.
As an ED RN, you will coordinate and perform nursing care procedures for patients of all ages, making independent clinical decisions during your shifts and consulting with supervisors when needed. You will react calmly in emergent situations, delegate appropriately to CNA and Tech staff, and set care priorities based on patient acuity. Your responsibilities include:
- Conduct thorough nursing assessments for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients, including interviewing, observation, and documentation of findings
- Accurately administer age-specific medications and therapeutics
- Carry out medical and nursing care plans in coordination with physicians and the healthcare team
- Demonstrate proficiency with emergency procedures such as intubations, arterial line setup, arterial blood gas puncture, thoracentesis, and lavage
- Operate and monitor basic and specialty medical equipment including defibrillators, monitors, EKG machines, ventilators, and chest tube setup
- Transcribe physician orders accurately and provide shift reports according to department guidelines
- Provide patient and family education including discharge instructions and follow-up care planning
- Serve as Contact RN leading assigned RNs and CNAs during the shift when needed
- Attend and participate in at least 50 percent of departmental staff meetings
Required Certifications: BLS and PALS certifications must be current upon hire. ACLS must be obtained within 6 months of your hire date. ACLS, PALS, TNCC/ATCN, and NRP certifications are required within the first 6 months and must be maintained bi-annually thereafter.
Experience: Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience is preferred, with prior experience in the emergency nursing specialty preferred.
