First Assist Technician Job in Salem, VA

Lewisgale Medical Center VA is seeking a licensed First Assistant to join the operating room team in Salem. You will work 10-hour shifts, four days per week, from 6:45 AM to 5:15 PM, with rotation on weeknight and weekend call. No floating between units is required.

In this role, you will support surgeons across a range of high-acuity procedures. You must demonstrate proficiency in orthopedics, orthopedic trauma, neurosurgery, and da Vinci robotic surgery. Your responsibilities will include assisting with craniotomy, spine fusion, liver resection, Whipple procedures, and MAKO total joint replacement.

You will work in a structured environment:

• One-to-one patient ratio across 10 main operating room beds
• Each room staffed with one circulator and one scrub technician
• Standard operating room equipment
• Meditech documentation system
• Scrubs provided

You must hold a current license as a First Assistant with the Virginia Board of Medicine. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning August 31, 2026.
