Medical Lab Technician Job in Charleston, SC

You'll work the night shift at MUSC Health Charleston as a Medical Lab Technician, performing essential laboratory testing and analysis. This is a 3x10 nights position (9:00 PM to 7:30 AM) on a 7 on/7 off schedule, with every other weekend required. The assignment runs 91 days, beginning September 28, 2026.

Your responsibilities include:

• Prepare specimens for testing and perform routine and specialized laboratory tests
• Perform quality control and troubleshoot quality control errors and maintenance procedures
• Recognize and evaluate computer data problems and troubleshoot laboratory instruments
• Perform preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment
• Communicate technical information to medical and non-medical personnel
• Assist with training laboratory personnel in routine procedures
• Participate in continuing education
• Recognize normal and abnormal values and model Standards of Behavior in daily interactions

You'll need:

• Minimum 2 years of experience
• Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or relevant medical or scientific discipline
• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP BOC or equivalent or relevant specialty lab certification
• Chemistry experience required; experience in Hematology and/or Chemistry highly preferred

There are no on-call responsibilities with this role. The facility operates under a guaranteed hours policy with the possibility of one call-off per two weeks. Weekly pay is $1,341.
