Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend requirement
• Rotate holidays in with core staff
• First to float; floating may occur to all other Sacramento facilities, with mid-shift float to another facility being rare but possible
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment, or 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• 18-bed Emergency Department with 4 fast track beds included
• No triage responsibilities for agency RNs
• Behavioral health patients are seen by mental health nurses in the Behavioral Health Unit
• Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips
• Charge nurse is available and generally does not take patients but will provide break relief
• Nurse aides available as census and staffing dictates
• Charting system: Cerner
• Respiratory therapy and pharmacy support available 24/7
• Common diagnoses include chest pain/rule out MI, exacerbation of chronic diseases, and psych holds; all major cases transported to higher-level facilities
• Self-scheduling is used, with schedules released 4 weeks out; overtime and extra shifts are available
• 1-2 days of floor-specific orientation with a preceptor
• Scrub color: Navy; undershirts must be navy, white, or black; scrub jackets are optional and must be navy
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS
• BSN not required
• Must provide 2 supervisory references from the submitting modality at submittal (charge nurse accepted); 1 within the last 12 months and 1 within the last 3 years
