PACU RN Job in Wheeling, WV

You will work as a Registered Nurse in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at WVU Wheeling Hospital. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning June 30, 2026, with a weekly pay rate of $2,410.56.

Shift and Schedule

• Primary schedule: 3 shifts of 12 hours each per week, working days
• Shift start times vary: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM, 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM, or 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM
• You are expected to stay until all cases are completed for the day
• No on-call responsibilities, but one 24-hour call shift per month (7:00 AM – 7:00 AM) is required
• Two additional overnight call shifts per month (11:00 PM – 7:00 AM) are also required
• Up to 4 schedule requests per schedule period are allowed based on unit needs
• 2 shifts may be cancelled per 13-week contract

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide Phase 1 and Phase 2 post-anesthesia recovery care across multiple areas: inpatient PACU, outpatient PACU, Surgery Center, and Anesthesia Clinic
• Recover patients from general, neuro, thoracic, interventional cath lab, radiology, and simple procedures
• Read and interpret cardiac monitor and telemetry strips
• Manage ventilator care per respiratory therapy protocols
• Open heart cases are recovered in the ICU; other ICU patients are recovered in PACU

Required Credentials and Orientation

• Valid nursing license required; BSN not required
• For inpatient and outpatient PACU and Surgery Center: ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications
• For Anesthesia Clinic only: BLS certification
• 2–3 shift floor-specific orientation provided

Work Environment

• Charting system: Allscripts/Sunrise EMR with Pyxis medication system
• Navy blue scrubs are provided for all areas except the Anesthesia Clinic, where you must self-provide them
