Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Every other weekend required; night shift weekends are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• Holiday rotation with regular staff
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Floating to other units required to assist as a tasker or extra set of hands
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of no more than 5 patients per nurse
• 3 nurse aides per shift
• Must have Epic experience; no first-time travelers
• Strong med/surg background required due to variety of patients
• Common diagnoses include chest pain, CHF, pneumonia, abdominal pain, pancreatitis, orthopedic, detox, post-op surgical patients, and pediatric patients
• Unit does not handle laboring mothers or titrating cardiac or insulin drips
• ICU monitors readings are faxed to med/surg nurses for documentation
• Respiratory equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen with RT support available at all hours
• House supervisor manages assignments for nurses and aides; no charge nurse on unit
• Extra shifts may be available; manager is open to working with block scheduling preferences
• 3 to 5 days of on-unit training provided
• Scrub color is open except camouflage or orange
• Charting system: Epic
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS
• BSN not required
• Valid Maryland nursing license required
• Must provide an unexpired copy of driver's license with submission
