Description
Opportunity:
RN - Med Surg Tele
Job Details:
• 12-hour night shifts
• 36 or 48 hours per week accepted; overtime not billed until after 48 hours if on a 48-hour schedule
• Every other weekend requirement
• Float to like units when needed
• Patient ratio of 1:6 for surgical/medicine inpatient patients
• 13-26 week contracts accepted
• Up to 7 days of pre-approved time off (no holidays); no RTO during first week; no additional RTO requests after signing
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• 2 days of hospital orientation plus 24 hours of floor training
• Minimum 2 years of surgical unit experience required
• Travel experience preferred but not required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Combination acuity unit: adult medical surgical and surgical stepdown
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH
• Required skills: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, use of Rapid Response Teams, blood product administration, central line care/management, peripheral line care/management, surgical drains, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, isolation precautions, wound care/wound vac
• Preferred skills: titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac)
• Special equipment: wound vacs, chest tubes, NG tube/Corpak, JP drains, Hemovac drains, Penrose drains
• Systems used: Pyxis, EPIC, SBAR
• Patient diagnoses include: cellulitis, appendicitis, cholecystitis, diverticulitis, motor vehicle accidents, gunshot wounds, stabbings, falls, various cancers, kidney stones, bowel obstruction, peripheral vascular disease, limb ischemia, hernia, and gangrene
• Special procedures include: cholecystectomy, appendectomy, hernia repair, TURP, ostomy creation or closure, wound debridement, tumor removal, kidney stone removal, amputations, and Fem Pop bypass
• Contract staff may be assigned to a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters
• Scrubs: all navy or navy bottoms with white top
