About this role
You will provide direct patient care in an adult acute care setting at Wrangell Medical Center, a Critical Access Hospital. Working the night shift on a 3x12 schedule, you will support Licensed Nurses by delivering essential bedside care to non-acute and acutely ill patients in adult and geriatric populations.
Your responsibilities include:
- Monitor and record vital signs: temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, weight, height, blood sugar, pulse oximetry, and intake/output
- Provide direct patient care: positioning, lifting, turning, assisting with bedpan/urinal/commode use, answering call lights, and assisting with meals and ambulation
- Collect and transport specimens to appropriate departments
- Obtain 12-lead ECGs for the Critical Access Hospital unit
- Perform telemetry monitoring of inpatient patients
- Maintain bed and room cleanliness, change linens, and prepare patient areas for admissions, transfers, and discharges
- Provide 1:1 care and safety sitting when indicated
- Manage and order supplies to maintain adequate stock levels
- Document observations and report abnormal findings to your supervising Licensed Nurse
- Cross-train in Emergency Department, Labor and Delivery, and Surgical Department roles
- Serve as preceptor for incoming CNA staff and students
Requirements:
- Current, full, and unrestricted CNA license in Alaska
- Current BLS certification
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year prior CNA experience preferred
- Must submit 2 fingerprint cards upon acceptance
- Must complete unit-specific courses including Point of Care and waived testing
- Must reside at least 100 miles from the facility
- Ability to lift patients regularly and respond calmly in emergencies
This 91-day assignment offers you $60 per hour and $1,170 weekly pay, working nights in a close-knit community healthcare setting.
