PCU Registered Nurse Job in Roanoke, VA

You'll work as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, caring for adult patients with neurological conditions, including neurosurgical recovery, stroke management, and medical overflow. You'll also support 5 dedicated beds for continuous 24-hour epilepsy monitoring.

Schedule & Duration

• 3x12 night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• 91-day contract starting May 11, 2026
• Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block
• One holiday per 13-week contract
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks

Clinical Responsibilities

• Manage patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:5 (must be comfortable with 1:5 ratio)
• Perform cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Administer IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
• Manage central and peripheral line care
• Administer medications and cardiac drips (no titration)
• Provide respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Participate in Rapid Response teams and maintain isolation precautions
• Float to units within your clinical skillset as needed

Requirements

• RN degree
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• EPIC charting experience required
• Previous charge experience preferred
• 48 hours of orientation provided

We accept first-time travelers and pending licenses from non-compact states. Weekly pay is $2,016.
