About this role
Chesapeake Regional Medical Center is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for its Intensive Care Unit. You will work 4x12 hour night shifts with every other weekend included. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting July 6, 2026, with weekly pay of $2,937.60.
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care with ratios of 1:2–3 patients
- Manage ventilators, IV drip titration, telemetry monitoring, and conscious sedation
- Recognize and respond to dysrhythmias and emergency situations
- Float to Step-Down Unit as needed; may also float to ED or Med-Surg to care for ICU patients being held
- Cover holiday shifts within your contract period
- Work overtime available after 48 hours on the 4x12 schedule
Required Qualifications:
- Current RN license (VA or Compact license required at time of submittal)
- 3 years of critical care experience preferred; strong candidates with less experience will be considered
- Strong neuro experience including post-neurosurgical care, EVD management, and stroke care
- BLS and ACLS certification via American Heart Association
- NIHSS certification
- Epic proficiency (no exceptions)
- Pass EKG testing with 80% or higher on first attempt; no remediation available
- Travel experience preferred
Patient Populations: You will care for patients with neurosurgical and post-stroke conditions, respiratory failure, renal failure, post-surgical recovery, trauma, sepsis and MODS, heart failure, and post-cardiac catheterization needs.
Additional Requirements:
- Reside more than 50 miles from the facility
- Complete 3 hours of pre-start modules (billable)
- Pass fit testing; PAPR not accommodated
- No license or background hits
