Anesthesia Technician Job in Rochester, NY

You will work as an Anesthesia Technician at URMC Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY, supporting anesthesiologists, residents, and CRNAs in the operating room and specialized surgical settings.

Schedule and Logistics

• Day shifts Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
• On-call, callback, holiday, and weekend coverage required per unit needs
• 89-day travel assignment starting September 14, 2026
• 8-hour shifts at $720 weekly

Core Responsibilities

• Prepare anesthesia equipment and supplies prior to patient arrival
• Place anesthesia monitors and maintain cleanliness and availability of specialized equipment
• Set up medications and supplies as needed
• Assist clinicians with difficult intubations and central line catheter placement
• Operate the cell-saver machine and track lab reports
• Support cardiac, liver transplant, vascular, thoracic, trauma, and other advanced surgical cases
• Ensure anesthesia equipment is in working order and perform preventive maintenance
• Execute advanced troubleshooting and setup of sophisticated equipment
• Test infusion pumps, nerve stimulators, defibrillators, and transport monitors
• Calibrate anesthesia machines and attach fiberoptic bronchoscopes to video monitors
• Set up and break down rooms between cases and at end of day
• Support ectopic procedures for anesthesia care outside the OR
• Provide backup to shift supervisor during absences
• Assist in developing and implementing in-service training programs
• Maintain continuous communication with the anesthesia care team

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as an Anesthesia Technician
• BLS certification from American Heart Association required
• Certification by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists or other nationally recognized professional certifying body preferred
