PCU Registered Nurse Job in Roanoke, VA

You'll work as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning May 11, 2026.

Schedule and Pay

• 3x12 hour day shifts, 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
• $2,016 weekly
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week scheduling block
• At least 1 holiday per 13-week assignment (2 holidays during winter season)

Your Role

You'll care for adult and geriatric patients on the Hospitalist service with pulmonary and medicine-related conditions, including renal overflow patients. Your patient ratio is 1:5. You'll manage up to 2 ventilated chronic tracheostomy patients (not ICU level of care) and provide care for chronic ventilator patients using nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Administer cardiac drips: Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose dopamine and dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitro, Bumex, and Lasix (no titration)
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
• Ventilator care for chronic vented patients
• Participate in Rapid Response and Code teams
• Maintain isolation precautions
• Work with remote telemetry monitoring and tele-sitting technology
• Float within skillset to other PCU or medical-surgical level units as needed

Requirements

• Current RN degree
• 1 year of nursing experience
• Chronic ventilator experience
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• EPIC charting experience
• 32 hours of orientation required
