Neuro PCU RN Job in Portland, ME

Join the neurological progressive care unit at MMC-P Bramhall Campus in Portland, Maine, as a registered nurse on the night shift. This 91-day travel position offers you the opportunity to care for neurosurgical and neuro-intensive patients in a structured, supportive environment.

Role Overview

You will work 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM) on a 4-day-per-week schedule, with 36 guaranteed hours weekly. Every other weekend is required; there are no on-call obligations. Patient ratios are 1:5–6 on nights, allowing you to deliver focused, quality care.

Patient Population

The 26-bed unit specializes in neurosurgical and neurological patients, including those recovering from:

• Spinal surgery and spine fractures
• Brain tumors
• Seizure disorders
• VP shunts
• Head bleeds and traumatic injuries
• Joint replacement surgery

Expectations

You must have IMC and neuro nursing experience, along with demonstrated neuro and neurosurgery skills. You will be a proactive team player with a positive attitude. Float assignments to other units may occur as needed. The unit uses Epic for the electronic medical record system.

Work Environment

Scrubs of any color are permitted, though a professional appearance is expected. The team values collaboration and accountability in a progressive care setting where your clinical judgment and compassion directly impact patient outcomes.
